I have read your question several times but still cannot understand what you are asking.
So- Are all the original image files copied to the external HD?
Why are you deleting folders and images? When they are gone they are GONE!!!
Why are you re-importing? If all images were copied to the external drive then you would just have to point the LR database folders to the new location on the external drive. (Right-click and "Update folder location..") Re-importing is NOT an option!
And if you have deleted images, how do you expect to re-import them?
The correct procedure might be to-
1. Copy your entire Pictures folder to the external drive (using the operating system.)
2. Right-click the topmost folder of the Pictures folder (on C: drive) in the LR folder panel, and "Update folder location.." choosing the new location on external HD.
Are you talking about deleting photos from Lightroom, or deleting photos from your hard drive? They are two completely different operations. If you delete them from your hard drive, they are gone, unless of course you have them backed up or copied somewhere else. It is possible to delete them from LR without deleting them from your hard drive. That is like telling LR to just ignore the images. Which one are you talking about?
We can't help you until you can explain your question better.
yes deleting them from the drive.
Thanks a million, im going to try that. i have every photo ive ever taken on sd cards so i can always get the pics back.
