1. are you on 13.8.1 ?
if not - upgrade, if you are:
1. in preferences memory and disk cache - clear by clicking both buttons "Clean" and "Empty"
does not work?
2. reset your preferences Cmd+Alt+Shift+click twice when launching the App
Thanks for the speedy answer. Finally back at my computer.
First off, I am already on 13.8.1.
I tried your suggestions and was able to do #1. I tried #2, but did not get any dialogue box saying something happened (should I have?).
Anyway, I tried everything a couple times, and I'm still getting the same message unfortunately.
Any other ideas?
Thanks again for your help!

Yes there is a dialog box. try again with intent . on Mac it's actually easier than on PC.
Hold Cmd+Alt+Shift and don't let go - and click twice on you app - you will get a window to reset you preferences - click O.K.
OK, got the dialogue box and reset the preferences. No dice. Same message as before.
Thankfully, If I have to re-create the sequence it's not that bad. Had I known this was going to be such a problem, I would have done that from the start. Would love to hear any other ideas, but at this point I'll just create a new project and start again.
I only got the judgement day solution and that is to set you secret preferences to disable layer cache and try also purge every 1 frame
press shift as you go to preferences and there will be a secret dialog. this will force Ae to purge cache. this is not a fix but a workaround to specific situations. if it's just this specific project - try it just with this.
Thanks Roei, cool trick. Never knew about that. Unfortunately, didn't change the outcome.
BTW, I opened a new composition and started importing media. When I went to import the Premiere project I was using this for, I got that same error message again, so I'm thinking it has something to do with Premiere. I can work around that as well, though by just importing specific shots I want to use for this sequence. Don't really need the sequence itself imported.
Thanks again for all your help! Really appreciated!
