I am currently running the following system:
EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0
Latest PP CC version
Win 7 pro
I am mainly editing GH4 internal 4K footage, 1080p 60FPS (200 mbps) or ProRes 4.2.2 with (800 mbps) 4K.
When doing color correction with Lumetri, Red Giant Colorista III or Denoiser II it is getting laggy. Since all this is GPU supported I was wondering if an updated graphic card would help. Here I was looking at the new EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 with 8 GB.
Would that really help speed up my workflow? Or shall I rather invest in 2011-3 setup update including 6 core and DDR4 etc later on?
I am also still running a 650 PSU. Would that still be ok?!
you can use windows task manager to monitor cpu usage and gpu-z to monitor the video card. you can do some testing with media and fx to figure out cpu vs gpu bottleneck in your projects.
650 watt psu will be fine for a gtx 1070 or 1080.
Im curious to know where your bottleneck is even coming from do you think you can get back with us with some results?
