OS? Version of InDesign including the minor release number (xx.xx.x)?
If you have to reset the preferences frequently (everyday, in your case) there can be a conflicting program installed in your machine which may be corrupting the preferences. You should check for it. You can also try to create a new user account (Admin) and test the InDesign in it.

I've experienced this with certain third party plug-ins installed. I've also had users attempt to migrate plug-ins from an earlier version up to the current one without using proper installation techniques (not drag and drop) and have it corrupt the ID startup as well.
