I renamed a bunch of photos in the same folder and of course they were all marked with the !. I did the locate and made sure that the Find Nearby Missing Photos box was checked. I confirmed that the one I found was the one I wanted. The ! was removed from only that photo. I have tried several more times within this batch and only one is found each time. This function has worked like a charm in all the LR iterations I've used for years. Why has it stopped now? Have I forgot something?
When you rename them outside of Lightroom how is Lr supposed to know which file goes with which newly renamed file. I think the Find Nearby Missing Photos only works well (or only works) if you just move a bunch of files but they have their original names. You will probably have to do this one at a time.
I'm sure it's worked in the past. Lr can look at the file names (numbers) and see that they follow one another. I've done it on this set one at a time, but I'm sure that I've done this in the past and it's worked.
