Hi everyone, I'm trying to setup this document to be printed for a magazine but I'm confused what to input for the settings on Indesign in the Document Setup area. I've spent over 2 hours looking up different examples online but I still don't get it because everyone has different examples that don't make sense to me. This is what their media kit says:
Tab Page: 9 3/4" x 13" (bleed size: 11" x 13 3/4")
Publication Trim Size: 10 3/4" x 13 1/2"
Mechanical Requirements: SWOP specifications apply.
Magazines are trimmed to 10 3/4" x 13 1/2" by trimming 1/8" off the head, face, and foot.
Live matter should be kept at least 3/8" from the trimmed sides.
Would my page size be the (9 3/4" x 13") or the bleed size (11" x 13 3/4")?
How exactly do I calculate that bleed size?
Do I have to input any of the numbers from that mechanical data section?
Sorry for all of the questions but I'm so lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If paying for a full bleed ad (and there may be limited numbers of those available), the document size would be 10.75 x 13.5 with a .125 bleed on all sides. Add .375 margin all around for safety zone.
If the ad does not bleed, doc size 9.75 x 13 with no bleed, and no worries about the safety zone as there will be a white margin around the ad when printed.
ooo that makes sense now. all this other stuff online confused me when it was plain and simple. Thanks for your help!
