    LR on an external drive

I have LR 6.6.1 on my Desktop machine and also on my MacAir which I use for tethered shooting, however sometimes I would like to be able to use my MacBook Pro instead.
However I can only use the copy of LR on two machines.

Is it possible to install it on an external hard drive and simply connect that drive to the machine I want to use for tethered shooting and run it from there ?
Sounds simple enough but I can't get it to work

      Any thoughts ??

Not possible. Parts of any Lightroom installation must be on the computer's system drive (which is the internal drive).

You could however sign out of one Lightroom installation, then sign in to the Lightroom installation on your MacBook Pro, and everything should work. And then sign out of the MacBook Pro installation when you are done using it, so you could sign in elsewhere.

            Sounds a plan.

Not very convenient but if that's the way it has to be I'll do that.

            Thanks
