I'm using purchased programs of Lightroom 6, Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12. I'm shooting jpeg + RAW (Sony) and 4K and 1080 video. I sometimes combine still pictures and videos for editing in Premiere to create video slide shows with clips. Sometimes I just use LR to adjust still pictures for the internet or printing. Or I may use LR or Elements to edit the stills to prep for Premiere video importing.
The question I have is which is the best way to import and catalog so the files are available to me without confusion as to where they are regardless of which of the three editing programs I'm using? Thanks.
I think you want to use a single catalog for all of your photos and videos. Putting things in multiple catalogs simply makes things more difficult to find.
If you choose Lightroom as the single catalog, you can edit photos and videos in Lightroom and send your photos to PSE for additional editing (use the "Edit In ..." command), and you can send your videos to Premiere for editing (same things, use "Edit In ...")
If you use PSE or Premiere or both as your catalog, this pretty much renders Lightroom useless, there is no easy way for photos in a PSE catalog or videos in Premiere catalog to be sent to Lightroom for editing.
Good solution. Thanks. Alan.
