Not possible because of security restrictions.
You could send the data to a CGI script on a web server which would write it
on the server and return the filename, then use
gotoNetPage(" http://www.example.com/returnedfilename.html", "_blank") to

I want to "save" the runtime generated file on the users hard disk and that
too in a cross-platform environment. I know I'm having hard luck on this,
but just in case... if someone has tried something out of the blue... and
wouldn't mind sharing his/her trick with the community.

The vList Xtra can save data to the user's local drive from Shockwave and it can load vList files from the local hard drive or from remote URLs.
