I'm using MacOS sierra.
I see in the system requirements page that CC 2014 only supports Mac OS X v10.8, v10.9 or v10.10
this is probably the problem.
isnt there a workaround for this? AAE 2014 is the only alternative mac users have right now for RAM preview instead of upgrading to cc 2017.
we know much more about sierra and compatibility to Ae then we knew in September. there actually should not be a playback issue so let's examine in detail:
- what exact version are you using - full numbers?
- show a full screenshot of your interface. and if you can, show us a screen capture of the performance issue you are having
- did this ever work on your system? does this happen with every project?
- try reset your preferences: Reset After Effects Preferences
- update your GPU Driver if you need to
well this issue is also occuring for me on the 2014 cc, and it had been working fine until my Mac updated to the 10.12 sierra.
After my OS updated this problem began for me as well and each time the "'red line" wouldn't move during my RAM previews.
I've tried searching everywhere as well - reset my preferences, uninstalled and installed again several times, and the same issue is still persistent.
Edit - everything on my mac air is also fully up to date.
you can install CC 2017 and keep your existing 2014 (make sure to uncheck remove previous versions upon updating) and we can confirm this is a CC2014 issue
I've installed both. The problem only persists on the cc 2014 Ram preview. Or else when I'm normally previewing on cc 2014 (no audio) the "red line" follows normally. Its only when i RAM preview that the line doesn't follow my comp/timeline but the audio and everything else is still playing. Since theres no ram preview on 2017, it works fine there as it just uses the normal preview for editing, so im probably almost certain its a compatibility issue with the new sierra 10.12, since before i updated, the issue wasn't there.
I still wish there was a fix for this, as i really prefer RAM preview in cc 2014 over the regular 2017 preview options.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
Great! guess we should have talked about this earlier if this was the only thing keeping you back at CC2014! enjoy 2017
