I am using Lightroom 6 (standalone - latest version) on an iMac. All Lightroom files are on an attached external drive in a hierarchy like this:
I assume that "All Lightroom files" are the photos, and not the catalog file (which some people think are Lightroom files as well). Am I correct that you are referring to the photos only?
If so, here is the method, in "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location" of this document:
The catalog file itself cannot be place on a network drive. Only the photos can be placed there.
All files are on the drive, including the catalog file - LR Library-2.lrcat - and the preview files.
Can I move the catalog file and previews to my internal iMac drive and then point them to the files?
Yes, you can do that
Great. Should I just move the catalog file or the preview files as well?
Previews and catalog file ought to stay together, if you don't move the previews they will be re-created by LR anyway
Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I really appreciate it.
