    Lightroom4- catalog corrupt- HELP!

      I tried repairing it several times- it is not working. I have read (in forums) to try using backup catalog, but I always "skip" the option to backup so that won't work. I do backup with Time Machine (for Mac), but my catalog is on a external drive, so I don't think that will help me either. I use Code42 (Crashplan) to back everything up to the cloud- not sure if I need to search for it there?  Does it make more sense to create a new catalog and re-import all the images from the raw (unedited) folder that was created upon original import?  I appreciate your help!!!
