There is a big difference in these two 'import' functions-
Elements simply copies the images from the camera card and places them into a folder in your computer, then it shows them as any image viewer or browser might.
Lightroom does two steps- it copies the images and places them into a folder, but it also adds a reference to them in Lightroom's catalog database.
Lightroom has the big advantage of its database capabilities, its Digital Asset Management (DAM).
I have both Elements 14 and CC Lightroom. Which program should i use for the importing of photos from my card reader? Currently, I am using Elements. Is there a difference or advantage over using one program over another? Please let me know. I have tried researching online but could not find an answer. Thank you!
Importing? I'm not sure what you mean. Is there a specific issue that causes you to ask this question?
You can certainly adopt the universal solution, and have your operating system copy the files from the camera card.
You would choose your operating system or Elements or Lightroom depending on what you want to do with the photos, which you haven't stated.
Thank you for your quick answer. I will use Lightroom over Elements to import my photos.
