This is a file that has been corrupted by a hardware malfunction somewhere. The malfunction could be the camera card, card reader or USB cable, hard disk or computer memory. You need to try importing the photos again using different hardware (and if possible import to an entirely different computer) to see if you can isolate the problem piece of hardware.
The reason other applications don't show the problem is that they are using the embedded JPG preview in the file, which is often uncorrupted.
The camera cards and card readers are brand new. The only step I have not yet taken is uploading to a different computer. I will try that.

This is irrelevant. New hardware can still malfunction. You need to test each and every peice of hardware involved.
