Lightroom 6.7 can read the RAW images from your camera. It's a free update if you have Lightroom 6.
However your CS6 will not be able to make use of these RAW photos. You could however use the FREE Adobe DNG Converter version 9.7 to convert these RAWs into DNGs and then your CS6 will be able to use the DNGs.
downloading lightroom 6 as i type this- and it only took an hour on the phone with adobe for someone to actually tell me that!! : ( Im thinking once the raw is outputted from LR6 into a JPG form, then CS6 will have no issue with them correct?

While this is correct, it's probably not a good way to do this.
Once LR 6.7 imports the photo, you can send the photo to CS6 as a TIF file (higher quality that a JPG, and no exporting needed) for additional editing. In Lightroom, select the photo, right-click on it and select Edit In... This sends the photo to CS6, where you can perform your edits, do a Save (not Save As ... ) and then the edited photo appears in Lightroom.
