Camera Raw colors seem to be off

I am trying to apply a sepia effect to a drawing using Camera Raw. It's worked in the past for the other drawings I've been working on. But this time, I wanted to darken the black lines a bit, so I adjusted the levels of the image before converting to a smart object to utilize Camera Raw.

So, here's the preview I get in the Camera Raw window. I add the appropriate amount of sepia coloring in the Split Toning section, and get this nicely sepia-toned image.

But once I click OK and come back to the image, the black lines are only slightly changed in some areas. Anyone know why the preview is so vastly different from the actual image and how I might fix this?

      Thanks! I appreciate any help!

View at 100% for an accurate preview.

At other zoom ratios, adjustment previews are calculated on the basis of this resampled/scaled version. This resampling softens the image and introduces intermediate gray values that aren't there in the original.

In other words you see a false preview.
