InDesign CS5.5, Photoshop CS5.1 and Illustrator CS5.1 crash upon startup

Two days ago my apps were working but my computer would periodically lock up while using the internet and I would have to do a force shut down with the button on the back of the computer.

I suspect that each time it locked up, one or the other of my apps was open and now I'm wondering if they are all corrupt.

Each one has a crash report that states something like this - they all have a corpse - does that mean they are all dead now??????

Crashed Thread:        0  Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

      Exception Type:        EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)

      Exception Codes:       KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000038

      Exception Note:        EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

I have been reading the forum since last night...

I tried deleting preferences with the command keys.

I tried looking for the plist to no avail so I could delete manually.

In my system preferences the hide/show menu bar is unchecked.

I tried renaming the CS55ServiceManager dir to CS5ServiceManager.bak  but mine was actually called CS5.5ServiceManager - and I had a CS4ServiceManager so wondering if I should have changed that one too.

I was running ElCapitan 10.11.2 or something and just upgraded after they were all crashing thinking that would help, so now I have ElCapitan 10.11.6

I saw some recommendations about installing Java but not sure if I should do that now.... Can you give me another clue please??
