Copying text from Adobe Digital Editions 3.0.

I have a number of books in my library and I am able to cut and past from all of them into Word.

Today, I downloaded a book from which I cannot cut and past.  The only difference was that this time Adobe asked me for a vendor ID, which I did not have, so I authorized the account [which I have never had to do before] without a vendor ID.

Does the authorizing of an account have anything to do with being able to cut and past text [which does not seem to be correct].  If not, is it the publisher that does not allow cut and paste? If not, how do I cut and past?
