I am working on a Windows laptop. I import pictures into lr from my sd card to an external drive (so I can only work on them in lr
when the external drive is plugged in....) My computer is not recognizing the external drive when I plug it in today....tried on another computer same result. I am afraid the new external drive is bad??? I have several clients that I need on that drive...I can still see the images in lightroom... Is there a way to send these images I can still see in lr (but LR does not recognize?).Can they be emailed, or burned to a disc, or something so I can import them again on a new drive??? I NEED to save these clients!!! I am taking external drive to my computer place tomorrow to see if they can recover them on that.
The images you see in the LR Library are preview images (low-res JPG, for fast browsing).
Depending on the size of the preview files, you might find some of them helpful.
There are plug-ins available that will extract the preview files from the cache, but I have not tried them.
Restore the photos from your backups.
If the drive is bad then take it in right away and see if they can salvage your images. Do you have a backup drive? They should still be there, but by the sounds of it you did not back up the drive.
What about out the cards the images were taken on? If you have not shot anything since exporting them you may be able to retrieve from those.
