FM2015 - Is there a way to 'skip' a footnote number?

I have a very large, very detailed table that has *many* footnotes.

A reviewer noted that it's difficult to distinguish between 'i' and 'j' (footnotes use a small font size)... is there a way to skip a number? (e.g. go directly from 'h' to 'j')

No, they are definitely sequential.

I'm going to disagree with the normally infallible Barb here, and say yes, you can:

Format > Document > Numbering: Footnote tab

Format: Custom

Pattern:
[abcdefghjklmopqrstuvwxyz]

Just leave out the letters you want to skip.

If you only enter the string shown, and need more than 25 footnotes, it rolls over to aa, bb, cc, etc.

The dialog accepts some very large number of characters. Whether that could be say, arbitrary Unicode, is not known to me.
