I have been using InDesign (currently CS5 v7.0) for many years and all of a sudden I can not open InDesign files. During the opening process I get a error message saying SharedContent.indesign plugin is missing. I then get a second error message saying files, like text.rpln, layer.rpln, spread.rpln, can not open. Then the program opens and there is no document.
I have tried to update the plugins using Abobe Application Manager, but once downloaded, I'm told the Adobe Extension Manager CS5 version 5.0 update had an error and stops me dead.
Does anyone know what is going on and how I can fix it?
That error indicates you are trying to open files saved in a newer version. Did you have a trial at some point? Do you have more than one version installed?
The InDesign file that will not open came from our ad agency. Is there a way to save the files so that an order version of the program and access it?
yes u can ask your agency to save it as an older version (idml)
file->save as-> then save it as idml cs4 or later
hooefully this solves your problem
