You'll never be able to open and edit Raw files from the 5D Mark IV in CS5 or CS6. CS6 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 9.1.1.
The 5D Mark IV was first supported in Camera Raw 9.7 which is only compatible with Cloud versions of Photoshop.
You'll either have to
- join the Cloud or
- download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all 5D Mark IV Raw files to DNG format then edit the DNG files in CS6 or CS5. An extra step for you but no extra cost.

Camera Raw: How to use Adobe DNG Converter - YouTube
oh damn... I tried the cloud and didn't like it but I guess, like everything else, we ultimately have no choice - they can make us do anything .. just like Apple and firewire 400/800 - gone to thunderbolt ... so we're stuck paying $10/month for the rest of our careers.
Well thanks fr the help. I'll have to think about what to do.
thanks, John - I’ve gone to the pages and downloaded the DNG converter… it’s being very slow, but it is working and that’s what I’ll do, for now at least… seems pretty counter-intuitive, doesn’t it, of Canon to make their own raw images and of course Adobe who can force us to do whatever they want.
But thank you very much - it’s working and I can deliver some pics tomorrow with this.
