    Animation Tweening problems

Hi, I'm trying to learn more advanced flash since I really know only the basic of basics. I've read a bunch of tutorials about tweens and stuff, some of them were about animating characters. They usually say to save the character I make as one movie clip, each part having it's own movieclip itself, and then distributing the parts of the body to layers inside the whole body movie clip and making the animation there. I have a problem with this. Whenever I make an animation, usually through tweens, it shows when I'm inside the body movie clip (which makes sense) but when I exit into the main scene, the animation is non-existant. I've tried extending to the same amount of frames as the animation in the timeline, but I've got nothing. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
