Adobe Indesign CS6 - I delete preferences, files open once, then bomb out on subsequent openings

Hello, I have a strange issue that's occurring. I have Adobe CS6 and it's fully updated. When opening ID files, I get a crash:

Adobe InDesign CS6 has stopped working

      Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

      Application Name: InDesign.exe

      Application Version:

      Application Timestamp: 4f72c3ee

      Fault Module Name: OPTICAL KERNING.APLN

      Fault Module Version:

      Exception Code: c0000005

      Exception Offset: 0000189b

Running windows 7x64 with 16Gb of RAM

Here's what I'm noticing, when I go to open a file, I get this crash, when I hold CTRL+SHIFT+ALT while opening up ID and delete preferences, I can open the files once and then back to the same errors. Something is creating bad preferences. I've looked at the Registry but couldn't find anything that jumped out at me, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, different profiles on the machine, compatibility mode, run as admin, I've scoured the interwebs but I can't seem to find a solution.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
