Lightroom import of iPhone .aae metadata

There have been several discussions regarding import of edited images from iPhones, but I was not able to find a final answer to my question here.

To recap, Apple non-destructively stores photo edits made on iOS devices in separate .aae files, allowing you to revert back to the original image in the Photos App. However when lightroom reads the images for import it ignore the .aae files and only sees the original images. There are work-arounds to get the images with rendered iOS edits, but it would be nice to pull the edit information into Lightroom non-destructively.

Does anyone know if Adobe eventually plans to support import of the metadata contained in Apples .aae sidecar files? Are there technical difficulties or legal issues that will always prevent them from doing this?

      Thanks for the help.
