    Modal Movie

    Level 7
      Dear All,

Can someone please advise me how I can gotoAndPlay a frame of a modal movie
in Flash actionscript 2.0 in Flash CS3? I want the user to process a frame
of a movie before progressing with other parts of the swf.

such as ... _root.ModalMovie.gotAndPlay(3) (some Modal flag)

I am a VB programmer and that is the way I would do it in VB.

      Thanks again.

      Alastair

What you show might work if the ModalMovie occupies the _root, except you mispelled gotoAndPlay(3) . That will take you to frame 3 of the timeline.

            NedWebs,

Sorry for not replying and saying thanks. I have been unwell the last couple
of days. I didn't know that _root movies were modal. Thanks again for that
            and noticing the typo error.

You're welcome. Actually I haven't a clue what modal means. If you know, feel free to clue me in when you're feeling better... I thought it was a misspelling of model at first, until I saw it used several times.

                NedWebs,

Maybe modal is purely a windows environment thing but what I am trying to
achieve is forcing the user to interact with a movie without the ability to
interact with any part of the swf that may or may not be visible.

                Thanks again.
