export a picture to the original file
I am not sure what you are trying to do here.
The option in the Export dialog to export as Original- does just make an exact copy of the original SOOC image file.
It will not over-write the original. It will not have, or show, any editing you have done in the Develop module. If you want a file with the edits you should Export as JPG, TIFF, or PSD file-type.
"Web" is the module to design Web pages with your photos.
Is there a problem clicking on the Library Module menu (top right) to return to Library?
What happens if you simply press "G". ? It should take you back to Grid view in the Library module. Or main menu > Window > Library.
If none of these work then more trouble-shooting is needed.
When I try to export a picture to the original file the picture either gets exported to a different file or it is not exported at all.
I don't understand this statement, it's not clear to me exactly what you are doing. Can you please explain in a lot more detail? Also please state the version number of Lightroom you are using, go to Help->System Info and report the version number shown there.
Trying to figure this out I clicked on "web" in the top right corner and now I can't do anything.
Click on Library near the top right of your Lightroom screen.

Please review some of the great online tutorials on how LR works and how to use, work with, LR.
And there are others.
You may also want to buy a book on using LR.
The Web module is for Web Galleries and other things. Not for surfing the internet for help with LR.
