I would like to know why Lightroom is so slow on my computer when all my other programs, including Photoshop, run very quickly.
It constantly hangs and freezes when doing simple things such as scrolling through my library (no matter how small the catalog is), and it's even worse when working in the develop module. Simple things like moving from photo to photo take ages and making adjustments lags a lot, especially when using local adjustments. The spot removal tool is one of the worst, the mouse jitters all over the place making it frustrating to use.
I have no idea what could be causing this, I have tried disabling GPU acceleration, tried different catalog sizes, tried using a new user account on my computer, even overclocked my CPU and all this has done very little to improve performance. I've also tried using the catalog on my SSD and that also made no noticeable difference.
Here are some details of my system taken from Lightroom:

My CPU is an AMD FX 6300 (is it something to do with AMD over Intel, or could it be the GPU?)
I've tried working with my catalog on the Mac computers at college and it is lightning fast in comparison, and those Macs are underpowered and are almost 7 years old!
What am I missing here!!?
There is some type of bug in LR that slows it down with CPUs that have more than 4 cores. The one you have has 6 cores.
See this thread over at the Photoshop Family site.
I have a quad core machine and am having the same painfully slow LR 2015.8 issues.
I am running Apple's new(wish) MacPro cylinder with lots of ram and storage and Light Room is running slower on it than it did on my old 2008 Mac Pro. What gives? Are you going to fix this anytime soon?
