    Dreamweaver MX and MS Vista

    cookie1298
      Hi, Can anyone help me?

I have just bought two new items - a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic and Dreamweaver MX.

DW MX has loaded okay with icon on the desktop. However, when I try and open it, it goes through a loading and initialising process before ... well ... nothing.

I am guessing its because its not compatible with Vista, but before I go and spend more money upgrading, I want to double check.

Can anyone out there confirm or deny this fo rme please?

      John

Some people are able to get Dreamweaver MX to install with Vista, but many
are not. Just to let you know, Dreamweaver MX is not able to be upgraded.
Adobe has a 3 version back upgrade policy and Dreamweaver MX is 4 versions
old and thus ineligble for upgrade.

Congratulations, you have bought an operating system that was released
in 2007 and a version of Dreamweaver that was released in 2002. You
might be able to get Dreamweaver MX to work on Vista in compatability
mode (go to the Windows Start menu, right-click Dreamweaver, and select
the Compatibility tab). However, it appears that you have made a false
economy. Dreamweaver MX is not eligible for upgrade to the current
version, Dreamweaver CS4. It's not much comfort to you now, but you
should have checked before spending your hard-earned cash.

              Thanks Michael.

I have just downloaded a trial version of CS4 and that is doing the same. The files have appeasred where they should have done and all ppears in order until I try and open the programme. Any ideas?

If you're using an Acer computer, there's a known conflict between
Dreamweaver and Acer eDataSecurity Management V3.0. You can find a patch
                here:

                  You just bought DWMX? Where?

Vista Home _Basic_ is not a supported operating system for any version of
                    Dreamweaver.

Thanks to all for your responses - yep, it certainly was false economy to buy MX. However, thanks to David, that fix certainly worked for my Acer (good call!) and the CS4 version is now working so I don't have to throw this computer out at all now :-)

Now all I have to do is convert myself to DW CS4 but at least I know where I can get some help. Thanks everyone for your time.
