Blending mode issue for folders in Photoshop CC 2017

Since the update to Photoshop CC 2017, I have issues with the blending mode.

The image shows transparent when the blending mode of a folder is set to (Linear light, vivid light, linear dodge, color dodge, linear burn, color burn, dissolve, difference or hard mix).

Can you quickly come with an update to fix this issue please?

My PSD templates are affected by this issue.

Hi styleWish,

Which specific Blending layer style are you applying and what is the opacity set to?

Post a screenshot of the same.

I cannot reproduce this issue at my end.

Hi Akash,

Thanks for your quick reply.

This is an example where the folder "lines" is set to Linear Light.

Only when I change the blending mode to something else it will be displayed properly.

The line shapes inside the "lines" folder are 100% solid color with blending mode set to normal.

I have many more examples where there is a problem with the blending mode.

I can send you a psd file if you want?

Kind Regards,

Wout

I found out there is no problem when I create a new PSD file.

There is only a problem when I open an older PSD file and recreate the same folder with linear blending mode.

Hi Akash,

Did you receive my PSD via PM?

I've a lot of PSD templates and photoshop actions that are affected by this problem.

Do you have any idea when this issue will be resolved via an update?

Maybe you can roll back the blending mode setting to the old settings?

Akash I can replicate this here. The issue is with 16 bit and 32 bit images.

I created a simple file with 2 groups each containing only 1 layer. The first is a blue circle with white background – the second is a
yellow circle with a transparent background and a transparent line through the middle.

In Photoshop CS6 and CS 2015.5 the image looks the same if I
set group 2 to “Pass through” and Layer 2 to “Linear Dodge Add”  as it does if I set the group to “Linear
Dodge Add” and the layer to “normal”. I would expect this given only one layer
in the group

Group2 Pass - Layer 2LDA            Group 2 LDA - Layer 2 Normal

However in CC2017 16 bit /32 bit the outcome looks very different

Group2 Pass - Layer 2LDA            Group 2 LDA - Layer 2 Normal

(Gray in second screenshot is transparency)

Surprisingly in 16 bit mode, zoom out to 50% or less and the image looks as expected ! In 32 bit mode it does not have an impact (it is
broken regardless of zoom).  Also 8 bit works as expected.

Turning the graphics processor on/off makes no difference to this behaviour

I can reproduce this issue - in fact, I was pointed here because I opened another thread with a related problem.

My project is quite large, so to single out which layer is causing what would be a lot of work, but I am also experiencing transparency and clipping when working with layer groups and pass-through blending on those groups. Unfortunately, I cannot share the blend file since it is proprietary.

For me, the problem only comes up during export/rendering - in Photoshop everything looks as expected. So as a temporary workaround, I found that "Save As" -> PNG/JPG/etc. works without causing trouble. But in the long run this is quite limiting...

I'm also having this issue, and I can not afford the lost work time.  I need my templates to output.  Any way to roll back to 2016?

This is a costly bug.

You can reload earlier version of Photoshop at any time

Go to your creative cloud desktop app

Click on "Find additional apps" and change the option from "All Apps" to "Previous Version"

Click on "Install" next to Photoshop and choose your version from the drop down menu

Hi, I'm trying the last version 2017.0.1  on my new Mac, multiply blending mode does not work in old files. Also for 8 bit. Bridge see the previews correctly. All is ok with cs5 versione in my old mac.
