Only one 5400 RPM hard drive... absolutely not

SSD boot drive and internal 7200 RPM drive for files... depends on what you are editing

I doubt you will be happy with that i5-7200u CPU as it is only two cores.  I have a laptop with a i7-4700HQ 4-cores and it works well with CC 2017.

It all depends on your media and what you are doing with it.

Well mate SSD or 7200rpm is ACCEPTED. HANDS DOWN.

I will mainly work on HD 1920x1080.

And mate As far as i7 4700hq is concerned it's 4 cores. Agreed. But it has

a Graphics i.e. Intel HD graphics 4600. This is an older graphics version

than the minimum requirement of 5500 which is recommended on the premiere

cc system requirements webpage.

The Graphics in i5 7200U is HD 620 which is the latest. And don't have a

mention on the list.

I suppose that the combination of i5 7200U and 940mx 2 GB GDDR5 will be

better than 4700 HQ. AND 16GB Ram and SSD should be a lot.

I still have a Macbookpro Intel core 2 duo i7 , 4 GB RAM, that runs FCP 7

really smooth.

But BIG HUG for the inputs. And please carry on the Discourse I would love

to hear more views on the matter. Before I go for the Purchase.

Fortunately, I do not have to rely on an Intel GPU I have an nVidia GTX 765M on this laptop.

You thought is only valid if the quad-core laptop is handicapped severely with slow-as-molasses graphics that steals enough system resources to prevent the quad-core CPU from operating at its full potential. And as I had discovered from my testing, no current-generation dual-core CPU is as fast as even a mediocre three-generation-old quad-core CPU when it comes to CPU-only (or "software-only") performance in Premiere Pro. And this "software-only" performance, more than anything else, influences the overall performance of the entire PC.

And the GeForce 940MX is not a true second-generation Maxwell GPU at all - but is actually one of several rehashed versions of the first-generation Maxwell GPU (in this case, the GM107 which made its debut in the GeForce GTX 750/750Ti). In fact, the 940MX is like a GTX 750 Ti that has been clocked lower to conform within the rated TDP of the 940 MX spec. This goes to show you that higher model numbers are not necessarily faster than lower model numbers. In fact, the GTX 765m in Bill's i7-4700HQ laptop is actually a faster GPU than the 940mx. (And that's not to mention that Bill had already upgraded that i7-4700HQ laptop's RAM to 24GB, up from the originally installed 8GB.)

You have mentioned 940mx is almost equivalent or similar to 750ti.

Now the official page of Adobe premier cc system requirements mentions 750M

as recommended.

Now 750Ti is much better than 750M, so if 940mx is similar to 750ti then

definitely it will be better than 750M.

So I think I can conclude that 940mx will be better for Premiere CC than

750M.

So I think it should be fine.
