Hello,

We've been using an internal update server and a deployed mms.cfg to point internal client machines to a local web-server hosting Flash Player updates extracted from the background update .cab file, as detailed in the Administration Guide.

My FlashInstall.log shows the following:

My mms.cfg:

AutoUpdateDisable=0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1

SilentAutoUpdateServerDomain=myserver.domain

What does this error 1301?

Hi,

After a certain number of failed installations via Background Update Flash Player switches from Background Updates to Notification updates so that users will be prompted to update Flash Player and not miss the update. 1301 indicates that this threshold has been reached and the system is being switched to Notification Updates. We need to find out what's causing installation to fail and the switch to Notification Updates is occurring.

What operating system is this happening on?

Please upload the entire FlashInstall.log file from an impacted system to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document and post the link to the uploaded file in your reply. If this is a 64-bit OS we need the FlashInstall.log file from C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directories.

Thank you.

Hi,

Please also provide the FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash.

What version of Flash Player, if any, is currently installed on the system?

Post a screenshot of the contents of the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash AND the C:\Windows\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash

Thank you.

The FlashInstall.log file you provided is the one in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directory. I'm asking for the FlashInstall.log file in the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory.

Sorry for not replying sooner.

The cause of the 1301 error is really the 1217 error:

1217 error = Failed to validate installer signature, or missing file or incorrect directory path

Since we've not received other reports on this (which would indicate a more wide-spread problem and lean towards a signature validation issue) it indicates an issue with the files deployed on your server. Please verify the files are deployed correctly and post a screenshot of the /pub/flashplayer/update/current/sau/23 directory, showing all sub-directories and all files, including the file/directory date/time stamp.

Thank you.

Thank you for posting the information. A few more questions:

 • What is your server's webroot folder?
 • post a screenshot of the /pub/flashplayer/update/current/sau/22 directory, showing all sub-directories and all files, including the file/directory date/time stamp (same as you did for /23 directory)
 • Using a web browser, can you download the file http://<Your.Domain.com>/pub/flashplayer/update/current/sau/23/install/install_all_win_ax_sgn.z (to rule out a network issue)
 • From where did you obtain the background update files? Did you obtain them from the licensed background update archive or are you downloading files individually from Adobe servers?
 • How many systems is this happening to?
