The 2017 update is terrible. It crashes constantly. Why did you release an update that is not beta tested?
In the meantime, if this is impeding your work, you can reinstall 2015 until it gets straightened out. For details, see "Installing an Older Version with the CC Desktop App" in this article: Adobe Creative Cloud: It’s Not Working After the Upgrade - Rocky Mountain Training
Nice to know. Too bad one must uncheck the default selection to remove the old software BEFORE upgrading. But I'll keep it in mind for next time, or in case I suddenly find myself in possession of a time machine.
I actually do appreciate knowing this for the future, though. And this gets right to my problem with Adobe—setting defaults that are stupid, which Adobe does for virtually every setting in InDesign and Photoshop, and hijacking computer startup software. Anyone with a Mac knows that the Adobe installer app starts itself every time the computer starts and is nearly impossible to remove. Adobe is one step from being spamware, in my opinion. My frustration is not with your answer, but with Adobe and the idiots who run it. Those who can explain Adobe's convoluted and nonsensical instructions and explanations are the saviors for those of us who believe in using actual English when describing things.
I concur. Since upgrading to Indesign CC 2017 it has become unusable. Spinning ball from hell and when it finally boots up all I can do is pan the page and cannot use any other tools. This is rubbish Adobe! The standard of Adobe software just gets worse and worse. It really gauls me that I have to pay you for software that doesn't work and costs me and my clients time and money. Maybe time to move to Quark and Affinity!
