I'm working on a slideshow player that loads images using the
Loader class after the user clicks a "launch" button, but just
before the presentation is displayed. The problem I'm running into
is that on that initial load the entire application freezes up for
I don't mind the load taking a couple seconds. For larger
presentations I'd expect that to be the case, but what I'd like to
avoid is a complete freeze of the app. This happens regardless of
whether I use large (750 kb) or small (7 kb) images. I've also
noticed that on the load, my CPU spikes and the mouse stops
responding for a moment as well.
Any recommendations or thought? Is there a better way, maybe
a less resource intensive method to load the images or is the
Loader class it?
