InDesign crashes every time I enter a hyperlink

After the most recent update, I'm having lots of issues.  The most annoying is that each time I'm trying to insert a new hyperlink, the app completely crashes.  Other issues: super slow speed, specifically when it comes to the Type tool (which I see others are having as well), and having to update links every time I open the app even though my images have not moved to a new location.  Argh!

Hi Sarah,

It looks like your version of InDesign is CC 2017. Please confirm.

Also let us know the OS you are on.

Now let's look at the problems one by one taking version as CC 2017.

Issue 1: Crash on Inserting a new hyperlink.

Is this happening with all files or a specific one?

Are these files newly created in CC 2017 or were created in an earlier version and getting worked upon in CC 2017?

Please share one such file with me pkandari@adobe.com

Issue 2: Slow speed, specially with Type tool.

Please navigate to Preference->Advance Type -> Type Contextual Controls and disable the first preference “show for Character Alternates, Fractions, Ordinals and Ligatures”.

Also, share one file with me showing the slowness.

Issue 3: Updating links every time you open the app.

The links are shown out-of-date, if you edit those. Have you edited any of the images that show up for updating?

Regards

Pragya Kandari

Hi Pragya,

Please see attached for the issue that I'm having. The hyperlink issue

seems to mostly happen in this file. I believe it was started prior to CC

2017 and is being worked on now in CC 2017. I am on a Mac OS. I will

update the preferences for text to hopefully solve that problem. The

images that require updating have NOT been updated by me, nor have they

been moved, so I can't understand why I have to keep updating them.

I too am having this issue. This is unacceptable. I cannot get any work done if the program crashes every time I enter a hyperlink.

I had this issue last week.  I started a Live Chat with Adobe Support and they ended up duplicating the eBook I was creating and then had me insert the link.  It worked.  For some reason the eBook file got corrupted and by creating a clean copy it circumvented the issue.  The Live Chat was pretty responsive.  I might give it a try.  Hope that helps!
