InDesign 2017: eye dropper no longer working on text style

I used to be able to select text then use the eye dropper tool to click on another paragraph and that style would be applied to the selected type.

I believe this is no longer working in Illustrator either.

No problems for me on a Mac with Mac OS X 10.12.1:

Try restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

I am on Mac OS Sierra, 10.12.1, iMac 27" Late 2013...
