Just refer to the text area's "text" property and it will display the text without the html tags:
im getting this html data from an xml file.
so first there is a tooltip, when we click on it, then it show another view with textarea in it full of html text.
means i dnt have text area in start. is there any string operation to get only text (without html tags)
Before the tooltip opens, assign the html text to a hidden textArea.
Then assign that textArea's plain text property to the tooltip and show it.
Although that might work, it is certainly not something I would suggest. It is a "hack" or "workaround" at best. Google and you will find several AS3 solutions that strip the original string of HTML tags returning a new string of "simple text." This is a far better way to go, IMHO.
Do this conversion at time of input / first usage and save / cache it so you will not need to repeat the conversion for subsequent tool tip showings.
Yeah, I gotta go with you on this one, gsb.
Nice question and answers.
Thanks others and Specially Greg :)
