Indesign CC 2017 Reflow Text In Table

      Hello fellow InDesigners,

I created a table of contents which has 44 entries that is being used in a reflowable ePUB. I didn't like the excessive vertical space this was taking up, so I thought I'd try putting the entries into a 4 column, 11 row table. This is working, but now I'd like to reflow the entries in a different order. Instead of the entries increment horizontally such as: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc., I'd like to stack them so they read:

      Chapter 1   Chapter 12

      Chapter 2   Chapter 13

      Chapter 3   Chapter 14

      etc.              etc.

Is there a way to reflow the text inside a table?

      I'm using InDesign CC 2107 on a Windows 10 (64 bit) machine.
