Having trouble updating audio track in AE after editing it in Au

Following this somewhat antiquated tutorial here, I didn't experience such a streamlined process when saving the edited audio track in Audition -- it didn't automatically update the audio track in After Effects as shown in the linked tutorial.

After selecting the .MOV with the audio in my AE timeline, I went Edit > Edit in Adobe Audition. I then simply saved out the edited audio from Audition, imported it as a new .WAV file to After Effects, and then muted the original track that is attacked to the original .MOV file. But is there a way to update the audio on the .MOV file after editing it in Audition, or is CC different than the version shown in the tutorial linked above?

      Thanks forum gurus.
