Received files in InDesign - any way to open them?

I recently received a set of files from a client who is now on vacation that are in indesign (.indd) format.

Is there any way I can open them and edit them without buying the full version of Indesign? Usually I'd have no problem buying any software, but I feel this will be the only time I will use it.

I heard there was a trial version that we might be able to use but I'm not sure what the limitations of it are?

      Any help would be appreciated.
