Muse SEO filled images

Since it's not possible to give filled images alt tags, I'm looking for alternatives to give search engines information about the images on my site. I've read that one alternative is to give them hyperlinks with tooltips that describe the image. Do search engines read these the same way they read traditional alt tags?

Any other suggestions for how to handle filled images for SEO would be helpful.

Tools tips are actually used for SEO purpose in Muse.
