Can't import 40gb file

i need help importing a file that is in .MXF format into premiere pro cc. it is over 40gb and when I try to import I can see it on my external hard drive but I can't click on it.

any suggestions are greatly appreciate.

Move to internal drive and try again.

i did that and then I tried to drag the file in and it said "error file format not supported"

And I presume you're trying to import through PrPro's Media Browser panel, and that the file is grayed out or just won't import? As that she the way that PrPro actually sees all the file headers and accesses the Metadata  ....
