I'm linking to a filable pdf on my webpage.  But when I click on the link it does not open as a fillable page.  If I click on the download link after it opens the webpage it will open in Reader of Acrobat, and then it is fillable.  How can I fix this?

What happens when you click on the link, most likely, is that the PDF is opened using the browser's own PDF plugin, and those are usually sub-standard, especially when it comes to form fields and scripts. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about that.

You can only recommend to your users not to open the file directly in the browser window, but to save it locally and then open it using Adobe Acrobat or Reader.

Thank You.  This is exactly what I have done.  I added the following explanation just above the link on the page.  I also included a link to download and install Adobe Reader.

NOTE:  You MUST have Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat installed.  When you click on the REGISTER NOW link below

it will NOT open the form as a fillable form immediately.  Once you have the form opened, click on the download icon,

(it looks like a page with a downward facing arrow) on the top right side of the page in the gray bar.  This will prompt you

"Save File" or to "Open with Adobe Reader".  Select the "Open with" option and you will then be able to fill the form.

I think a better instruction is to right-click the link to the file and select Save Target As (or something similar to that, depending on the browser), and then open the file directly inside Reader. Also, you can include this text in the actual PDF file itself.
