Can I use InDesign in our e-commerce system

Hi

We are digital printers with an online ordering platform which allows customers to design their own leaflets and posters and the like. The system we use at present is a rather dated off the shelf package which is becoming increasingly limiting and we would dearly like to upgrade to something much more modern, sophisticated and user friendly.

Is there anything within the Adobe catalogue of products (like this online editor I'm using to create this message) which we could use?

You can't use InDesign on a server but you can use the InDesign Server product. But this isn't something your customer sees. A web programmer has to create a front end, and paying for a programmer for a year or more may not be your best way forward. Look for a replacement off-the-shelf product; so far as I know Adobe don't offer one (though such a product might use InDesign Server)

One more thing to beware: if you employ a programmer/have custom work done. You will struggle to find someone who combines BOTH

* up to date web skills - essential not just for the look and feel but to maintain a secure site, the #1 priority

* comprehension of pre-press, resolutions, colour management, imposition, PDF/X... you could find you have something that makes beautiful screen previews, which are saved (as an afterthought) as a screen resolution RGB JPEG.

The online editor you used to compose that message is actually a Jive product, not an Adobe product. I'm not sure from your description, but it sounds like what you're looking for is PrintUI.com.
