Using InDesign CC 2017.0 release Build 12.0.0.81 El Capitan 10.11.6 on a Mac Pro (Mid 2010) 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad core Xeon
Using the application bar to adjust text, for example, applying a slope or an indent to some selected text.
Doesn't always happen but sometimes if I select some text then double click in one of the control boxes to make an adjustment then type in a value (say a 6pt indent) instead of changing the value it will replace the selected text with '6'. Doesn't always happen but it's annoying. The up/down arrows work, so I can change the parameters of the selected text that way but it's a pain and not as quick.
Anyone else had the same thing?
I want to tell Adobe about this but the only bug report page I have found does not include InDesign in the product list (in fact the list is VERY limited).
You can report it here: Wishform - Adobe InDesign. But sure to click the Bug radio button.
But, this is a known issue. Try disabling the Type Contextual Controls in Preferences > Advanced type.

That seems to have worked – thanks. If it's a known issue I'll leave the reporting.

Great! And, yes, here have been lots of threads on this issue since the 2017 update. We all have our fingers crossed that it will be updated shortly.
In the meantime, you might want to bookmark that link—it's handy for bug reports but also for adding items that you wish were part of the software.
