I did not think submitting an app with com.companyname.* style app id was allowed for release. It is allowed for development (encouraged). I would double check Apple's documentation on app ids just to be sure.
Thanks for your reply. We have been using it for quite a while. In Itunes Connect you get and option to specify the id or the last part when selecting a wildcard certificate option for a new App.
So from itunes connect and Apple it´s still working.
Same issue with me (in another thread). The wildcard provision cert worked up until about a week ago. Now it doesn't but creating a provisioning profile for each specific app definitely fixes it.
Some good news. Phonegap Build is working again with the wildcard certs. Just rebuilt 2 ipa which were not accepted by Apple Appstore, but after the rebuild they got accepted.
So looks like the issue has been resolved. 10538

xcode 8 is a gift that keeps on giving.
entitlements were in the past automatically set during the build. in xcode 8 this is no longer the case and it must be set manually in the project entitlements file.
mea culpa we passed through all entitlement keys from the provisioning file including the wildcard app-identifier. this has now been removed with only valid app capability keys being copied over to the app's entitlements file.
