Thanks and that's one of the first links I tried but it say nothing about opening the comp window (not the comp storage window but the one you see when you work on a timeline.
For example, in Premiere now when I hit SHIFT+1 that will automatically open up the panel that shows all of my project files. The same with AE - if I wanted to key the command to open the undocked comp panel what is it?
I'm not sure what you are asking. If you just need to get rid of a duplicate comp viewer, simply close it. Otherwise AE has no specific window management. It simply always synchronizes the timeline tabs and the comp viewer and will auto-open both, when you double-click a comp in the project window. Everything else just minimizes the panel. Of course you can always lock panels if you so desire and rearrange them in any order you like, including docking and undocking them.
OK no problem. I think if I had larger monitors this wouldn't be an issue for me, but because I have two old ones that belong to the firm (and don't ask to get me new ones) I was hoping for more flexibility.
Thanks for the advice.
