Ingest transcoder task error - Cannot launch AME server!

Hello,

I'm having an issue when trying to transcode Canon C100 AVCHD files to MOV using Prelude and Media Encoder. Here's the exact error message:

Transcode task - transcode "/Volumes/Disk 2016/**TEST**/C100/PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/00000.MTS" failed. Reason: Cannot launch AME server!

Here are the current versions of each program I have installed:

-Adobe Prelude CC 2015.3

-Adobe Media Encoder CC 2015.4

Here's how I have my Ingest setup in Prelude:

-I have the AVCHD file selected in the Ingest window.

-I have the Primary Destination set to the same location as the ACHD file.

-I have selected to Transcode Format H.264 using the Preset: Match Source - High bitrate

-I have it selected to Verify the output using MD5 comparison.

After I hit the Ingest button, AME will launch and then in Prelude you can see it saying "Ingesting: 0%" in the lower left corner. It then hangs for a few minutes and then will come back with the event error message I showed above.

How can I fix this issue? Will updating both Prelude and AME to the latest releases (2017) fix it? I haven't attempted that yet, just seeing if there's something simple i'm missing here. Thanks.

Hi Wonderhouse,

This problem looks very strange. You are not missing any step as described above.

Please try after updating to latest Prelude and AME.

If problem still persists, we can surely look in detail.

Thanks

Nikhil,

Finally got around to updating BOTH Prelude and AME to 2017 and the problem has been fixed. If I follow the steps above everything transcodes perfectly. Thank you!
