Trial version of lightroom?

Hi, I am trying a trial version of LR and when I try to use the develop portion, the photos come up as this bizarre "light/heat" looking version of the picture and I cannot edit. Is this a property of the trial version?  I don't want to purchase if LR won't work on my computer.....  thanks!

Trial version is unlimited in its functionality, but limited to 7 days if I recall correctly.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad, went to their website and updated the graphics driver. Worked!!  Thanks.
