XMG Files

I have a huge number of images taken with a Canon 550D and 5D.  They all have a XMG_**** prefix and I can't open them in Photoshop, Elements or even just within the holding folder.  Can anyone help.  All of my other images start with IMG_***

XMG is just part of the filename and shouldn't be a problem.

Do the files have a CR2 extension?

What version of Photoshop do you have?

And what version of Camera Raw?
